It’s coming! It’s coming! No, not another curse, but the series finale to Once Upon A Time. The seven season-long series is coming to a close this May.
The series finale, which will last two weeks, May 11th and 18th, entitled Leaving Storybrooke, will be the last new episodes the show will ever air. Don’t be too sad though, as new and old faces are all appearing in the episodes. It will allow hearts around the world to flutter again as beloved characters reunite.
Past series regulars, Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan), Josh Dallas (David/Prince Charming) and Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow/Mary-Margaret), will join with others to make Once Upon A Time just as magical as ever. The three recently made announcements of their return. Jennifer Morrison already arrived in Stevenson, British Columbia and filmed her last few scenes.
The three join in with others who already took to Facebook and Twitter to say they were coming back for the finale. This includes Jared Gilmore (young Henry) and Beverley Elliot (Granny), who stated they will be in flashbacks. Emilie de Ravin (Belle), Sean McGuire (Robin Hood), Victoria Smurfit (Cruella), Jo Anna Garcia-Swisher (Ariel), Robbie Kay (Peter Pan), Lee Arenburg (Grumpy/Leroy) and Tony Amendola (Marco/Geppetto) also made announcements of their return. They will join in with Rebecca Mader (Zelena) and Keegan Tracy (Blue Fairy), who were set to only appear in a few episodes this season but will be extended until the finish of the show.
Many of the actors already began saying their goodbyes to the series when it was announced it was ending. And now, as they film the last few days of taping for the show, you will surely see more. By the time the last episode has aired, the goodbyes will all but be a sad goodbye to the fans that followed them this far.
Even Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, Executive Producers, let out a statement of good-bye thanking cast, crew, writers and fans alike.
“Seven years after we set off on this magical journey, we prepare to say goodbye to the cast, crew, and writers that made the ‘happily ever after’ that is Once Upon A Time possible. We couldn’t think of a more fitting way to say farewell than by reuniting so many of the characters that our fiercely loyal fans spent years with on their adventures. We hope everyone joins our Once family, old and new, for what we hope will be the send off of a lifetime befitting this stellar cast and its incomparable fans.”
While we can all look forward to all the faces we want to see again, don’t expect the show to tie up all the loose ends that were left open. The Executive Producers were quick to point out in multiple interviews that not every question will be answered. There just isn’t enough time. But that’s why there are fans, to continue the legacy that Once Upon A Time will leave behind.
